The Life Countdown
My Life Countdown offers a lot to think about.
I checked my life expectancy via the Death Clock, which in normal mode gives me a death day of Saturday, March 3, 2040…11,849 days (in pessimistic mode, I’ve only got until Thursday, December 29, 2022, a mere 5575 days left…I think I’ll work with “normal” mode. If I lose 50 pounds, I get about three more years).
Myself, I get the sense of urgency from realizing that it’s probable that my life is more than half over. Is what I’m doing today relevant to what I want to do? Do I even give myself enough resource to understand what it is I want to do?
If you’re looking for more inspiration along these lines, you might like the text of the commencement address given by Steve Jobs at Stanford in 2005.
Update: There’s a nice NPR interview with Kelly about his countdown clock here (click on “Listen”…for some reason I often miss that button and have to look all over the page for how to listen to NPR content!)
